Video Game Inspired by Bashkir Epic Set for Release
New title reimagines traditional myths and folklore for modern audiences

A new video game based on Bashkir folklore, Serdtse Urala (Heart of the Urals), is set for release in Russia, Computerra reported. The project was developed at Ufa University of Science and Technology. The game is a pixel-art rhythm title with elements of quests, combat, and dialogue. The story follows a protagonist who enters the world of Bashkir mythology, traveling through three realms – the underworld, the earthly world, and the celestial domain. Some locations are based on real landmarks in Bashkortostan, while others draw from epic tales. Music plays a central role, incorporating national motifs and reflecting the personalities of the characters.
Folklore Reimagined
As project lead Stanislav Pegiy said in an interview with Izvestia, “A modern reinterpretation of ancient Bashkir legends, combined with contemporary arrangements of folk music, can spark interest and inspire young people to explore national culture.”
The team has released a demo version of the game, with the full release scheduled for May.
