AI in Russia to assess parcel reliability

Russia’s Yandex-owned marketplace has introduced neural networks to screen parcels, according to the company. The system is focused on cash-on-delivery shipments. In some cases, such parcels are collected by recipients, but payment is never made, leaving both the seller and the marketplace with losses.
Final decision remains with humans
To prevent such situations, Yandex Market will use algorithms to assess user reliability in advance. The neural network has been trained on data covering a large number of purchases over extended periods, as well as patterns of anomalous customer behaviour.
The system evaluates each order and assigns a risk level. Suspicious transactions are immediately flagged to a staff member, who then decides under what conditions the order should proceed. According to the company, such AI-driven tools strengthen protection for marketplaces and reduce the financial risks associated with fraud.
