Another Smotrovaya Vyshka System Launched on East Siberian Railway for Remote Cargo and Railcar Inspections
New Automated Equipment Is Now Operating at Lena-Vostochnaya Station
A Smotrovaya Vyshka (Inspection Tower) system has been commissioned at Lena-Vostochnaya station on the East Siberian Railway. It will be used to inspect railcars on a siding operated by Irkutsk Oil Company.
The equipment operates automatically. It can be used to check whether cargo is properly secured on open flatcars and to monitor the condition of rolling stock. The technology not only speeds up inspections but also keeps employees out of potentially hazardous work areas. The system is expected to inspect an average of 26,645 loaded railcars annually.
Five Smotrovaya Vyshka systems are now in operation on the East Siberian Railway. Another is scheduled to be installed at Ikabya station in Zabaykalsky Krai by the end of this year.
