Russia Weighs Creation of a National AI System for Schools

The initiative aims to support teachers and students, not replace them, according to the education ministry.

Russia’s Ministry of Education is considering developing a homegrown artificial intelligence system designed to assist both teachers and students. Minister Sergey Kravtsov discussed the idea during a live session at the All-Russian Forum of Homeroom Teachers in Moscow.

Kravtsov stressed that AI and digital technologies would never replace teachers. Instead, the focus is on gradual integration of artificial intelligence into the learning process.

Currently, digital platforms and services in Russia are already helping educators handle routine tasks and analyze large volumes of data more efficiently. For students, AI tools can personalize learning paths by tailoring assignments and materials to individual needs. One such assistant, called the “Teacher’s Assistant,” is already being used to help educators review and analyze their lessons.
