AI Will Help Russians Care for Elderly Parents

A new system combines smart-home sensors with neural networks to monitor seniors’ daily routines and alert family members when something goes wrong.

In Tolyatti, a startup based in the Zhigulevskaya Dolina tech park is launching “Social Support,” an electronic platform designed for adults who want to remotely care for elderly relatives. The project works like a “smart home,” but is specifically tailored for older users living alone.

The system uses sensors to track interactions with household appliances and relies on neural networks to map a senior’s habits. AI monitors sleep and wake times, meal schedules, and walks. If the routine breaks, a dispatcher either calls the relatives or checks in personally.

The expanded version adds door-eye cameras, a voice assistant, and trackers. The project is currently being tested in several apartments. Users only pay for dispatcher services; installation is free. Officials say the goal is to scale the program across the Samara region.
