Russian Mapping Service Adds Navigation Mode for Unstable Connectivity
The new feature helps drivers stay oriented on the road even when satellite signals drop out.

Yandex has launched a navigation mode designed for areas with unstable GPS reception across its mapping services, the company said in a statement.
The new “Step-by-Step” mode keeps the map view fixed and presents the route with clear visual guidance, making it useful when geolocation data becomes unreliable. The route is broken into stages and shown as a sequence of maneuvers. Drivers see the direction of travel, the distance to the next turn, and a visual landmark.
Driving Without Satellite Signals
In the new mode, the map no longer constantly recalculates the route when satellite data fluctuates. Once the connection is restored, the app automatically switches back to standard navigation.
The update also introduces manual location adjustment when launching the app. If satellite data is inaccurate, users can set their position manually. To refine positioning, the service now combines all available signals, including mobile network data, Wi-Fi, and GPS.
