Russia’s Homegrown Messenger MAX Surpasses 45 Million Users
The country’s flagship messaging app continues to expand, blending chat, AI, and digital ID features into a single platform.

The Russian messaging platform MAX has reached over 45 million users, according to the company’s press office. Daily engagement is also on the rise — in October, the app averaged 18.2 million active users per day, with peaks of more than 21 million on October 7 and 10.
Expanding Beyond Messaging
MAX is rapidly evolving into a multi-functional digital ecosystem. Users can now verify their age in stores via the app’s digital ID feature, host video conferences and group calls, and even use the integrated YandexGPT 5.1 Pro neural network for AI-assisted communication.
As MAX cements its role as a key player in Russia’s digital landscape, it’s positioning itself not just as a messenger — but as a gateway to the country’s growing AI and e-government infrastructure.
