Committee Chairman Alexander Bastrykin announced the creation of a dedicated unit for information technology, communications, and data protection at an operational meeting with deputy chairs and department heads. The move is part of a broad digital transformation aimed at increasing the speed and quality of investigations, optimizing internal processes, and improving public engagement.

Bastrykin emphasized that all digital upgrades must serve a single purpose: fighting crime.

“Digital transformation should primarily enhance our ability to solve and investigate crimes, but also streamline management and improve the quality of interaction with citizens,” he said.

The committee, working with the Ministry of Digital Development, has already assessed its existing IT infrastructure and begun designing new systems. Investigators are being equipped with automated workstations that provide real-time access to data from other government agencies, significantly accelerating criminal case investigations. Internal communication channels between divisions have also been reinforced for greater security.

To coordinate this large-scale effort, the new IT division will report directly to one of Bastrykin’s deputies. Following the meeting, he issued specific instructions to push forward with the digital transformation program.
