Russia Deploys Uranium Detection System in Buryatia
A new hardware and software complex launched by Rosatom allows direct measurement of uranium content in ore deposits, cutting costs and boosting accuracy compared to foreign analogues.
The system, now operating at the Khiagda uranium field in Buryatia, introduces innovative design principles that make it possible to perform a comprehensive downhole survey in a single run. Often described as an “X-ray” for boreholes, the method directly determines uranium levels while simultaneously recording ore moisture and clay content in natural conditions.
According to Gleb Nosyrev, CEO of RUSBURMASH, this integrated approach eliminates the need for costly core drilling and associated geological and laboratory studies. The technology reduces exploration expenses while increasing the overall economic efficiency of uranium field operations.
