Moscow Begins Production of Smart Controllers for Traffic Lights and Barriers
Moscow-based company SAUK has started manufacturing domestic devices for traffic management, enabling traffic lights, barriers and parking systems to operate on locally produced hardware rather than imported equipment.
The controllers detect changes in the magnetic field of a special cable embedded in the road surface. When a vehicle passes over it, the device registers the signal and triggers an action – for example, opening a barrier or gate without contact. The system can also be controlled directly from a smartphone.
A key advantage of the new system is compatibility with existing infrastructure. According to company head Andrey Krasovsky, switching to the domestic controllers will not require replacing induction loops or road surfaces.
The company plans to release a second model with a high-speed communication interface. The device will be able to transmit a continuous data stream to a host system, enabling deeper integration into smart transportation networks.
Head of Moscow’s Department of Investment and Industrial Policy Anatoly Garbuzov believes the new controllers are expected to help optimize traffic flow and improve parking management across the city.
