Russian Researchers Create Digital Twin Suite for Oil Pumping Stations
The system enables modeling of both process and electrical operations.

Specialists at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute (MPEI) and Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, with participation from Transneft Electrosetservice employees, have developed a suite of digital twins for oil pumping stations. The system enables modeling of both process and electrical operations.
The key feature of the new development is the ability to run both models simultaneously with data exchanged between them via a digital protocol. This makes it possible to see, for example, how a short circuit in the distribution network affects pump operation and pressure in the pipeline, and vice versa — how a hydraulic shock can impact the operation of electric motors.
