KO VNIIMETMASH Adopts Russian Software for Engineering Design
The metallurgy engineering institute has transitioned to domestic BIM and point cloud tools to improve the quality of industrial design projects.
Joint-stock company KO VNIIMETMASH has implemented domestic software solutions in its operations, including nanoCAD BIM Stroitelstvo (BIM Construction) and nanoCAD Oblaka tochek (Point Clouds), aimed at significantly improving the quality of design work.
The research and engineering institute, which focuses on designing facilities for the metallurgical industry, often deals with highly specialized tasks. In this context, the 3D module and nanoCAD BIM Stroitelstvo play a key role. Created models are converted into parametric elements with assigned attributes, making them reusable in subsequent stages. Meanwhile, nanoCAD Oblaka tochek is used for further processing of the collected data.
The rollout of the new software systems was carried out in parallel with staff training. At the same time, the institute developed internal modeling standards, design templates and a unified set of object attributes.
