Remote STEM Classes Reach Rural Schools in Yakutia

Ten rural schools in Russia's Yakutia region have launched the Setevoy uchitel (Network Teacher) pilot project, bringing remote physics, chemistry, and biology instruction to students in isolated communities to help address a shortage of teachers.

Anatoly Semyonov, deputy chairman of the Yakutia government, presented the project's initial results during the federal press tour "Yakutia. Territory of Growth." According to Semyonov, the pilot program has already reached 168 students across 10 rural schools.

The project is designed to address one of the region's most pressing education challenges: a shortage of science teachers in remote parts of Yakutia. The remote learning model allows students in hard-to-reach villages to receive full classroom instruction without having to relocate to larger cities.

The press tour showcasing the project also highlighted Yakutia's flagship initiatives in education, industry, and culture, as well as the Far Eastern Hectare program.
