Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and EVRAZ to Train Engineers to Work With AI
Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and EVRAZ have developed a continuing education program for design engineers. The course will help BIM specialists and project managers apply digital technologies and AI in engineering design.
The first cohort will begin in September 2026. The 68-hour program is built around industry-specific tasks. Before developing the course, the EVRAZ team surveyed engineers and found that they needed not programming skills, but tools they could apply immediately after completing the training.
The course covers data management, the integration of BIM, CAD and engineering analysis systems, process automation and the creation of AI assistants.
"Artificial intelligence is becoming an integral part of modern engineering, but its effective use requires a solid foundation in mathematics, algorithms and engineering," said Andrei Raigorodsky, director of the Phystech School of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science at Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.
"It is important for engineers to understand where automation truly delivers value, how to prepare data and how to integrate new solutions into existing workflows. That is exactly what this program focuses on: not studying technologies for their own sake, but solving specific engineering tasks," said Dmitry Yeremeyev, EVRAZ's director for market demand development.
