Computer Vision System Goes Live at Yaroslavl Tire Plant
The solution automatically provides accurate tire inventory data throughout the production process.
Lenta Tech, in partnership with tire manufacturer Cordiant, has launched a pilot computer vision system at the Yaroslavl Tire Plant. The system's primary function is to monitor and classify tires moving along the production line. It analyzes key manufacturing stages, from tire assembly through vulcanization.
Smart cameras installed along the conveyor identify more than 30 tire sizes by analyzing tire width and the colored stripes applied to the tread. These markings serve as product identifiers before the tread pattern is formed during the molding process. Based on this recognition, the system automatically tracks tire inventory both on the vulcanization line and in the associated storage area.
The solution enables production staff to make immediate operational decisions, helping prevent conveyor bottlenecks and better synchronize manufacturing processes. The optimization is expected to increase annual production by approximately 15,000 tires.
