Driver Navigation App Rolled Out in St. Petersburg Transport System
The geoservice will factor in parking availability when building routes
St. Petersburg is rolling out a driver navigation app that will show which traffic lights are green and build routes based on available parking spaces, according to the city’s transport committee.
The app is part of a broader set of digital solutions being introduced across the city. Officials presented the development of St. Petersburg’s intelligent transport system at the ITS Regions conference in Tula, where experts from 47 Russian regions discussed how transport digitalization is shaping safety and mobility.
Digital Transformation of Urban Transport
A unified transport management platform is designed not only to aggregate data but also to turn it into services that directly assist drivers. The system analyzes traffic, predicts congestion, and suggests alternative routes. Drivers receive real-time updates on available parking spaces.
Earlier reports said that in 2026 the Podorozhnik (transport payment app) will introduce geolocation-based fare payments for surface transport in St. Petersburg, allowing passengers to activate tickets with a single tap without validators by simply boarding a bus or tram.
