UEC Develops Smart Gas Turbine Engine for Power Generation
The prototype is planned for 2028.
United Engine Corporation (UEC) is developing a new-generation smart gas turbine engine. Designated the GTD-8SM, the model will be intended for use in power grids serving data centers and distributed power-generation facilities.
The engine will have a digital twin that will continuously monitor the power plant’s components during operation. This will allow engineers to make timely decisions about replacing worn parts.
One of the GTD-8SM’s key advantages will be its modular design. The compressor module, combustion chamber, power turbine and auxiliary equipment drive will be built as functionally independent units. Repairing them will not require dismantling the entire power plant.
The engine prototype is planned for development in 2028.
