Regional Marketplaces Help Russian Brands Boost Sales

Local entrepreneurs see profits surge thanks to new digital tools and “Made in...” product showcases.

Regional storefronts on Russia’s largest online marketplaces are helping small and mid-sized businesses grow sales, according to data reported by RBC. These special sections — marked with labels like “Made in Tyumen Region” — highlight local products and brands, giving them greater visibility with customers.

In 2025 alone, Tyumen entrepreneurs increased sales by 30%, while businesses in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug saw a 25% rise, and those in Khanty-Mansiysk gained 43% year over year. In total, regional storefronts now feature around 30 Russian regions and over 2 million products across the country’s three major marketplaces.

Local Identity Drives Growth

The number of regions using local branding continues to grow. Sellers attract attention through special labels, while marketplaces offer built-in digital promotion tools to help boost visibility and engagement. For shoppers, the feature opens access to new, homegrown brands and local goods they might not otherwise discover.

E-commerce overall remains one of the fastest-growing sectors in Russia’s digital economy. In the first half of 2025, online retail turnover grew by 36%, and total e-commerce revenue reached 22 trillion rubles last year — a clear sign that digital platforms are becoming a central driver of regional business development.
