Russian Kids to Learn How to Spot Deepfakes and Online Scams
New lessons in digital safety teach children to recognize AI-generated fakes and protect themselves in games and social media.

Russian tech giant Yandex has updated its “Internet Safety” course for elementary school students, introducing interactive lessons on identifying deepfakes and online scams. The company said the program uses familiar examples — social media chats, popular online games, and AI-generated videos — to help children learn through real-world digital scenarios.
Teaching Digital Hygiene Early
Russia has been expanding digital literacy initiatives for years. Kaspersky Lab’s national education project “Lesson in Numbers” teaches kids about cyber hygiene and safe online behavior. In 2025, the company launched an interactive simulator called “Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence,” which was completed more than 3.5 million times within three weeks.
The simulator introduces students to techniques for spotting deepfakes in video calls, audio clips, and images, helping them recognize manipulated content before they fall for it.
