The opening ceremony was attended by regional Governor Alexei Texler and Anton Novikov, CEO of VTB Infrastructure Holding. The project is being developed as part of the national Science and Universities project with the participation of VTB, which is serving as the concessionaire and investor, and VEB.RF, which provided 4 billion rubles ($43.8 million) for construction. The campus will bring together seven universities, with a focus on robotics, digital platforms and materials science.

“Today we opened the facilities that make up the second phase of the South Ural university campus. This is a major event for the region and for the development of its scientific and educational capabilities. The campus is a large, comprehensive infrastructure project. We will complete it next year by opening the science and education laboratory center and a multipurpose conference hall. This will be the heart of the campus,” Alexei Texler said.

The third phase is scheduled for completion in 2027, with an academic and research complex featuring 40 laboratories. The campus is expected to be fully operational in 2028, with capacity for about 5,000 students.
