AI Creates Russia's First Fully AI-Produced Documentary Film
A popular science documentary about Russian Field Marshal Mikhail Kutuzov has become the first documentary in Russia to be created entirely using artificial intelligence technologies.

The film is scheduled to premiere in the summer–autumn of 2026, according to the project's screenwriter and director, Konstantin Kuznetsov.
According to the director, the documentary brings more than 50 classical paintings to life using AI, and the finished film will have a runtime of 40 minutes.
The production team is currently seeking a distribution license and is in talks with several streaming platforms about the premiere. Kuznetsov said the main challenge is that films created entirely with AI have never before been approved for theatrical release in Russia. To ensure historical accuracy, the filmmakers worked with the M.I. Kutuzov Foundation throughout the production.
