AI-Powered Earbuds Are Coming to Russia
Users in Russia will get a way to capture thoughts and ideas without pulling a smartphone out of a backpack or pocket.

Testing of Yandeks Drops (Yandex Drops earbuds) with an AI assistant has entered its final stage. The earbuds are designed to act as a hands-free companion, letting users interact with Alisa AI (Alisa AI assistant) and instantly save ideas or tasks as notes.
According to the developer, Yandex, Yandeks Drops will be another set of wireless earbuds, but with a key difference – they are tightly integrated with Alisa AI. This integration allows users to access AI-powered features by voice whenever needed. The device extends AI beyond the smartphone or computer screen, enabling constant access to a virtual assistant in everyday situations.
For example, users can ask Alisa AI questions on the go – while driving, running or cooking – and receive answers in real time. The earbuds also support familiar assistant features already available on Yandex Stations, such as controlling music, podcasts and audiobooks.

Replaces Your Calendar and Notes
The earbuds include a feature called “My Memory.” Everything a user asks Alisa to record – reminders, plans, tasks or random thoughts – is saved in a structured format within the Alisa AI chat. In practice, Yandeks Drops acts like a virtual secretary, capturing important information and reminding users about upcoming events.
For instance, users can ask the AI to store a checklist of documents needed for a visa or insurance policy, log meetings or save the title of a movie they want to watch. Notes are accessible through the Alisa AI chat or via voice commands. The product is currently in its final testing phase, and a launch had previously been announced for the first quarter of 2026.
A New Everyday Assistant
For Russian users, Yandeks Drops is not just another gadget with AI as an add-on. It signals a broader shift – generative AI moving out of apps and browsers into continuous, real-world use, where the entire device experience is built around AI.

The earbuds are expected to gain traction quickly. By the end of 2025, Alisa AI already had tens of millions of users, providing a built-in audience. The device allows people to use AI comfortably in everyday scenarios – during workouts, commuting, driving, walking or cooking. If speech recognition proves accurate and responses are fast, the product could occupy a new category between standard wireless earbuds and a full-fledged personal digital assistant that helps manage everyday cognitive load.
For Russia’s IT sector, the launch is strategically important. Yandex is attempting to define a new product category that combines AI, voice control, computing functionality and ecosystem services. If successful, it could reshape how users interact with AI and accelerate the development of fully integrated AI-driven products. It also signals that Russian companies are not just adapting external technologies but actively building their own AI solutions.

The new Yandex device also has export potential in Russian-speaking markets where the company’s ecosystem is already established. In addition, developers can adapt the technology to local requirements and other languages, expanding its potential user base.
