Modular Data Center Is Under Construction in Russia’s Rostov Region
The facility is set to expand connectivity and digital infrastructure across the Southern Federal District

A new modular data center is under construction in Novocherkassk in the Rostov Region, according to the regional Ministry of Digital Development. The facility will support core telecommunications infrastructure and provide high-speed internet access and virtual computing capacity across the Southern Federal District. The complex will include machine room modules, power units, engineering systems, and climate control installations.
Data Centers of the Future
According to Igor Maryasov, MTS regional director, the key advantage of the data center is its scalability, allowing operators to increase the number of racks, modules, and overall capacity. Four modules are currently under construction, with plans to expand to eight. Similar data centers are already operating in Saint Petersburg, Novosibirsk, and Primorye.
Russia may also introduce a unified registry of all data centers. The proposal was put forward by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak. The registry would include all facilities and their technical specifications to help assess energy requirements and streamline grid connections. Earlier, Yamal Governor Dmitry Artyukhov instructed officials to explore the construction of a data center in the region.
