Large Russian Companies Move to Build In-House Cybersecurity Centers
Big businesses in Russia are expected to roll out their own security operations centers in the coming years, reflecting a broader shift toward tighter control over cyber risk.

According to a global study by Kaspersky Lab, half of companies worldwide with more than 500 employees that do not yet operate a security operations center, or SOC, are considering setting one up within the next two years. The main driver is the need to strengthen protection of corporate data. Another 45 percent cite the need to counter increasingly complex and targeted cyberattacks.
The survey polled 1,714 cybersecurity professionals across 16 countries, including Russia.
Cybersecurity Control Centers
An SOC is a specialized unit that monitors events across an organization’s IT infrastructure around the clock, analyzes incidents, and coordinates response efforts. In Russia, 52 percent of respondents said this model of digital security organization is a priority. Companies expect SOCs to help them detect anomalies faster and limit the impact of incidents and coordinated attacks.
Different Motives, Same Outcome
Business motivations vary. Around 40 percent of organizations link SOC deployment to regulatory requirements and the need to handle sensitive data securely. One-third of respondents expect an in-house monitoring center to provide a competitive edge and boost trust among customers and partners.
From a technology standpoint, SOCs are typically built as a combination of platforms. The most in-demand tools include cyber threat intelligence, endpoint detection and response systems, and centralized security event monitoring platforms. Companies are also increasingly looking at integrated approaches that cover networks, workstations, and cloud services.
People Matter Most
Experts agree that an SOC’s effectiveness ultimately depends on people. Even the most advanced systems require skilled specialists who can interpret data and make fast, accurate decisions. As a result, many companies are considering hybrid models that combine in-house teams with services provided by commercial monitoring centers.
Market participants view the fact that half of large organizations are planning to launch SOCs as a sign of growing maturity. Businesses increasingly see cybersecurity as a core element of resilience and long-term development, a trend that is expected to drive demand for cybersecurity professionals in Russia in the near future.
