Smart Cameras Installed Along Moscow’s High-Speed Diameter
Around-the-clock system is designed to detect incidents instantly

Nearly 500 new smart cameras capable of recognizing 15 types of road incidents have been installed along the Moscow High-Speed Diameter. The system enables traffic specialists to respond more quickly to accidents and dispatch assistance when needed, the Moscow Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development told IT Russia.
No More Blind Spots
The Moscow High-Speed Diameter is one of the city’s busiest and most heavily trafficked highways. Higher travel speeds require additional safety oversight. With the installation of 470 additional smart cameras, their total number across the capital’s main roads and tunnels has reached 2,000. All major routes are now covered, eliminating so-called blind spots.
Wipers and Lens Cleaning System
All video analytics units are positioned to monitor every stretch of roadway. The dome cameras offer 360-degree coverage and include two side cameras for monitoring specific sections. They are also equipped with optical zoom. The system operates in all weather conditions and monitors traffic around the clock. Cameras are fitted with automatic wipers and a lens-cleaning system, ensuring clear images regardless of rain or snow.
Video feeds from all smart cameras are analyzed in real time by artificial intelligence. The system can identify and classify 15 types of incidents within seconds, including pedestrians on the roadway, collisions or stopped vehicles in traffic lanes, smoke, wrong-way driving, roadworks and the use of personal mobility devices in car lanes. Each alert is immediately transmitted to the Traffic Management Center.
Earlier, we reported that in 2026 the Krasnoyarsk region plans to install its first 50 autonomous traffic violation monitoring systems at key entry points and busy routes, such as the Krasnoyarsk bypass and the road to Yeniseysk. These systems operate independently of wired infrastructure.
