A Russian University Has Established an Institute of Robotic Systems
A new division of HSE University will bring together advanced research and development in robotics.

The Academic Council of the Higher School of Economics has officially approved the creation of the Institute of Robotic Systems, the university’s press service reported. A major agro‑industrial corporation, EFKO—also known for its high‑tech developments—has become the key industrial partner of the project.
Together with the university, EFKO will develop prototype anthropomorphic robots for various industries. Later, the company will take over mass production. Specialists will focus on creating an integrated set of technologies, including artificial intelligence, computer vision, and mechatronics. The team will have to invent everything—from movement mechanisms to devices that imitate brain functions.
According to HSE First Vice Rector Leonid Gokhberg, the new institute will work in close cooperation with other HSE divisions. Students and postgraduates will take part in the research. Full‑scale work will be launched within a year.
For the technologies of the future
The combination of HSE’s academic research, EFKO’s industrial capabilities, and state support in the NPO format creates a powerful impetus for strengthening Russian technological development.
