Gorky Automobile Plant has deployed a domestic product lifecycle and manufacturing management platform, connecting more than 190 units of equipment whose performance is now monitored in real time.

The digital platform brings together all engineering departments into a unified information environment, enabling centralized control over vehicle development. It includes data across all stages of the lifecycle – from design and production preparation to after-sales service.

Communication among employees has also improved, and the company expects the new system to increase operational efficiency by 15%.

“The platform speeds up development because everyone works within a single information environment. All participants have access to the same system and its data, allowing seamless information transfer,” said Dmitry Berezhnoy, head of engineering center operations at Gorky Automobile Plant.

A Key Step for the Auto Industry

According to IT director Elena Smirnova, the lifecycle management platform was developed in close collaboration with AvtoVAZ, KAMAZ, and other automotive companies. The system could later be rolled out across additional production sites.

Marat Bashirov, a professor at the Higher School of Economics, said the move marks an important step for the entire automotive sector.

“Without proprietary PLM systems, achieving technological sovereignty in industrial manufacturing is impossible. These platforms effectively integrate the entire product lifecycle – from concept and design to production and service. This improves communication between departments and enhances both efficiency and quality,” he said.
