The Gazpromneft-Zapolyarye oil and gas company is working with Rusdronport to develop a VTOL port – a specially equipped terminal for the vertical takeoff and landing of aircraft. Andrei Markov, head of development and robotics projects at Gazpromneft-Zapolyarye, announced the project at a session of the TNF International Industrial and Energy Forum. The VTOL port is designed to complement the existing ground infrastructure for drones used to monitor Siberian oil fields.

Earlier, Gazprom Neft announced the launch of its first engineering stations for autonomous aerial robotic systems at remote oil fields. The stations charge and service the aircraft, which operate around the clock to monitor production and environmental conditions at infrastructure in hard-to-reach areas of Siberia.
