Russia Developing Digital Twins of Promising Small Nuclear Plants
They will make it possible to analyze the operation of future power units before construction begins.

Russia will complete development of digital twins for promising fourth-generation small nuclear power plants by 2027, Sergey Solovyov, scientific director of VNIIAES JSC, said at the Golden Valley forum. The models will make it possible to analyze the efficiency of new power units before construction begins and will also reduce design time.
The work is being carried out under the project of the National Center for Physics and Mathematics (NCPM). The digital models will be intended to accelerate the creation of energy facilities in remote areas of the country. The promising plants will be able to supply consumers with electricity and heat, as well as be used for producing hydrogen and synthetic fuel.
Solovyov noted that supercomputers, with correct modeling of physics, hydraulics, and strength, make it possible to quickly find optimal solutions and assess the maximum efficiency and performance indicators of the technology.
