In Moscow Region, Teachers Get 'AI Assistant' While Kids Chat With 'Sonya'

New AI-powered services are set to support teachers and students in the classroom, saving time on routine tasks and making learning more interactive.
This fall, schools in the Moscow region will roll out a set of new digital tools designed to change how teachers and students work. A generative AI service called 'Teacher’s Assistant' will take on routine tasks such as lesson planning, handouts, and tests. It will suggest exercises at different difficulty levels, case studies, quiz questions, and visual examples. After each class, the system will analyze the learning process and recommend areas for improvement.
The assistant can also generate short reports for parents and offer recommendations. The service officially launches on September 1, 2025.
Another service, 'Smart Helper for Teachers,' goes live on October 15. It will handle handwritten texts, catch spelling and punctuation mistakes, and even recommend grades. Currently, teachers spend about two hours a day grading notebooks. With AI, that time could drop to just 15 minutes.
Younger students will also get their own digital helper. Starting October 1, a chatbot named 'Sonya' will answer children’s questions in simple language. Kids will be able to ask questions by voice or text in a messenger app. The AI will process the request, gather relevant data, and provide an explanation that’s easy for a child to understand.
