New Russian Platform Combines Digital Twin Technology and STEM Education
State tech holding Rostec has unveiled IIoT.Istok — a powerful industrial IoT platform that can monitor factories, build digital twins, and even teach kids to code.

At an international technology exhibition in Dubai, Russian state holding Rostec’s Rosel division presented IIoT.Istok, a next-generation platform for managing and monitoring industrial systems remotely. The technology is designed to bring automation, precision, and intelligence to manufacturing — while also laying the groundwork for digital education.
Building Digital Twins for Smarter Industry
IIoT.Istok can create digital twins of industrial equipment, track machine loads, monitor operator performance, and capture up to 300 distinct data signals from a single tool. The platform connects directly to CNC systems and displays real-time analytics on interactive dashboards, allowing operators to instantly correct production anomalies.
The system’s flexibility means it can be applied not only in manufacturing but also in building management, environmental monitoring, and other complex data-driven tasks.
Teaching the Next Generation of Technologists
Rosel also showcased two related solutions: TDM.Istok, a tool management system, and IIoT.Istok.Kids, an educational platform that teaches teenagers programming and data analysis skills. By combining industrial-grade technology with accessible learning tools, the project aims to nurture a generation ready to work with the technologies shaping modern production.
With IIoT.Istok, Russia is demonstrating that industrial innovation and digital literacy can evolve together — creating solutions that are both globally competitive and locally transformative.
