Russia Launches National Technology Olympiad for Students

The country’s biggest youth engineering competition is opening registration for its 11th season, covering 41 tracks from genome editing to space technologies.
Registration is now open for the eleventh season of the National Technology Olympiad, Russia’s largest team-based engineering contest for young people—from middle schoolers to university graduates.
For high school students, the event features 35 technology tracks. The university track includes six specializations, some brand new: “Modeling in Biotechnology,” “Structural Safety,” “Flexible and Molecular Electronics,” and “Engineering Networks of Future Cities.”
Participants will take on ambitious challenges such as designing a space mission for Earth monitoring, creating a VR simulator with realistic physics, and developing autonomous transport for smart cities. Other teams will train neural networks, build satellites, and design video games.
Winning the Olympiad opens the door to the country’s top technical universities. The best university students will also gain access to internships at research centers and partner companies, along with preferential admission to graduate programs.
Junior participants will explore seven exciting fields, including a new focus on cyber-physical systems. For them, the Olympiad offers a rare chance to immerse themselves in project-based work and cutting-edge engineering. Registration is already underway.
