Russia Opens Training Lab for Digital Industry Engineers

A new laboratory in St. Petersburg will train IT engineers on Russian-made equipment designed for the automated industrial systems of the future.
St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University and the Petersburg Energy-Saving Company have teamed up to prepare a new generation of IT engineers by launching a joint training lab focused on electric drives and industrial automation.
The main goal of the project is to address the talent shortage in the digital economy. The lab will train specialists capable of designing and maintaining complex control systems for technological machinery and industrial complexes.
Students and faculty will gain hands-on access to modern Russian hardware, including frequency converters, programmable controllers, electric motors, HMI panels, and SCADA systems. This equipment forms the backbone of smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0 technologies. By the time students enter the workforce, they will already be familiar with the tools and ready to take on real-world industrial challenges.
Educational programs will be directly aligned with the needs of the digital industry.
