Russia’s Computer Vision Market Surpasses 25 Billion Rubles

Fueled by rapid adoption across industries, the sector is expected to double in size within five years.

Russia’s computer vision (CV) market has exceeded 25 billion rubles ($270 million) in 2025, according to Forbes Russia. Analysts describe the current phase as one of “mature growth.” If the market continues expanding at its current rate of 14 percent annually, it could reach 49 billion rubles by 2030.

Experts attribute this momentum to rising demand from government, retail, and industrial clients. Computer vision systems are now deeply integrated into public safety, biometrics, facial and document recognition, and video analytics. Nearly half of all market revenue comes from large-scale government surveillance systems — including Safe City projects and transport infrastructure monitoring.

Focus Shifts Toward Industry Applications

In industrial settings, smart cameras monitor production lines and worker safety. In retail, they track product placement and customer behavior. The healthcare sector is also driving new demand for diagnostic imaging and workflow automation.

“But the focus is gradually shifting from classic algorithm development to complex, industry-specific applications that enhance business efficiency,” said Dmitry Markov, CEO of VisionLabs, one of Russia’s leading AI companies.

Market participants believe growth could accelerate to 20 percent annually, citing a wave of “technologically mature products ready for large-scale deployment.”

With expanding state contracts, industrial automation, and retail analytics, computer vision has become one of the most dynamic segments of Russia’s AI ecosystem — a foundation for the country’s broader digital transformation strategy.
