System to Monitor Production Equipment Launched at Sevmash
The system is designed to optimize production processes and reduce repair times.
Sevmash, part of United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), has implemented a system for monitoring production equipment. The company has connected 12 computer numerical control (CNC) machines in Mechanical Assembly Shop No. 16 to specialized software.
The system collects data on equipment operating time, emergencies, error codes and the causes of downtime. The information is used to assess the performance of individual machines and the equipment fleet as a whole. In real time, staff can monitor equipment condition, operating efficiency, utilization rates and the number of parts processed. The system also alerts them to breakdowns or malfunctions, allowing an employee to be dispatched promptly to resolve the problem.
According to experts, the new system will help identify untapped production capacity, eliminate the causes of downtime and optimize repair schedules. Other mechanical shops at Sevmash are also expected to be connected to the equipment monitoring system.
