The system combines psychometric models and artificial intelligence to assess elementary school students’ mathematical literacy and provide recommendations for teachers. The pilot was designed to test the system in real-world school settings and gather feedback. The findings will help the developers refine the technology and prepare it for larger-scale testing.

A key component of the pilot was an adaptive algorithm that selects questions for each student based on their previous answers. The system assesses not only overall proficiency but also mastery of individual skills. Each subsequent question is selected to test specific skills, and the assessment ends once enough data has been collected.

“To be honest, I was surprised that the children were given different numbers of questions. Apparently, the program was giving some of them another chance, as if to say, ‘What if they get the next question right?’” said Anna Kuznetsova, an elementary school teacher at the private Olimp-Plus school.
