Ulyanovsk State University Receives Funding to Develop Digital PCR Analyzer
The initiative is designed as both an engineering and an educational project.
Ulyanovsk State University has received a subsidy from Russia's Ministry of Science and Higher Education to develop a domestically produced digital PCR analyzer for use by laboratories across the country.
One of the project's requirements is a high degree of localization. Consumables and software, in particular, must be produced entirely in Russia. The goal is not only to reduce dependence on foreign suppliers but also to bring down the cost of medical testing as much as possible.
The university says the development of the PCR analyzer will serve as both an engineering and an educational project. As part of the initiative, it will train professionals capable of supporting the entire development and production cycle for high-tech products.
