Kaluga Region has ranked among the top three Russian regions for the pace of digital transformation in the agricultural sector, Governor Vladislav Shapsha said.

More than 5,000 hectares of farmland have already been cultivated using autonomous tractors. A local machine and tractor station has purchased 17 autonomous driving system kits for this purpose. An agricultural drone unit is also set to begin operations in the near future.

Agricultural businesses across the region use parallel guidance systems, satellite navigation to define field boundaries, and precision technologies for fertilizer application and crop spraying.

"The use of digital technologies reduces spending on fuel, fertilizers, and crop protection products. At the same time, labor productivity, harvesting rates, crop yields, and product quality all improve," Shapsha said.

The results have earned high marks from industry experts.
