Russia’s New Energy Model Merges Green Tech and Digital Innovation

At the REBUS-2025 forum, energy officials highlighted how IT tools are helping nuclear power meet tougher environmental standards while driving sustainable growth.
Russia’s nuclear energy sector is undergoing what officials call a “dual transition,” where information technology opens the door to higher ecological standards. The point was underscored by Alexey Tulikov, Director for Energy Law Development at the Russian Energy Agency of the Ministry of Energy, during the REBUS-2025 International Forum.
Tulikov noted that improving environmental performance and advancing IT development are directly connected. Green technologies combined with digital innovation, he argued, ensure the sustainable evolution of Russia’s nuclear industry while keeping it safe for the environment. He added that next-generation projects are being deployed both at the federal level and within individual regions.
The REBUS-2025 International Forum took place in late August in Tatarstan, bringing together representatives from 68 Russian regions and 25 foreign countries. The agenda focused heavily on the integration of IT solutions into energy, and 11 agreements on digital development were signed during the event.
