NtechLab, a technology partner of state corporation Rostec, and video surveillance developer Netvision have deployed AI-based video analytics in Russia’s Penza region. The system will operate as part of the Bezopasny gorod (Safe City) program, Rostec’s press service told IT-Russia.

Record Speed and Accuracy

The Penza region has installed 1,600 cameras, with video feeds routed to a unified information center. NtechLab’s algorithms identify faces, silhouettes, and human behavior with high speed and accuracy. This enables the system to flag suspicious individuals and assist in locating missing persons.

The NtechLab neural network will be used on main streets, in parks, schools, public transport stops, and logistics hubs. Because all video streams from the Bezopasny gorod system are integrated into a single information environment, emergency services can coordinate more effectively and respond faster to incidents.

Finding People and Collecting Evidence

“Facial recognition in a video stream takes less than one second, with accuracy exceeding 99%. Deploying this solution helps prevent critical incidents and improves safety in the regions,” said NtechLab CEO Alexey Palamarchuk.

NtechLab systems are now operating in more than 70 regions across Russia. Similar solutions have already been implemented in the Novosibirsk and Samara regions, the Stavropol Territory, and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

The unified information center also provides rapid access to archived footage from specific cameras, making it easier to locate individuals and collect evidence.

“The success of the project demonstrates the high scalability and fault tolerance of the Netvision platform, its ability to handle large volumes of data, and its compliance with the strict requirements set by regions for components of the Bezopasny gorod system,” said Netvision CEO Roman Kazachenko.

Earlier, we reported that Rostec had launched an AI platform to streamline event management.
