Tula to Build the Region's First Phygital Sports Center
The first phygital sports center in the Tula Region will be built at the Arsenal Stadium, the regional government press service said.
"The new sports facility will combine an esports zone with venues for traditional sports. The administrative and digital building will house a computer gaming hall with 20 stations, as well as gaming console and virtual reality areas. Outdoor mini-football, street basketball and workout facilities will be built on the adjacent grounds," the statement said. Construction is scheduled for completion in December 2026.
Regional Sports Minister Mikhail Trunov said phygital sports are rapidly gaining popularity by combining virtual competition with physical activity.
"The creation of this center will help attract young people who are interested in computer games but also want to stay physically active to regular sports participation," Trunov was quoted as saying.
The new facility is expected to serve as a venue for regular training sessions and tournaments in several disciplines, including phygital football, phygital basketball, phygital biathlon and esports. The project is being implemented under the Business Sprint (I Choose Sport) federal program.
