An electronic warehouse management system has been introduced at the production preparation division of the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK), the company’s press service said.

The project, implemented as part of efforts to replace imported software, is based on the Russian EME.WMS 5 platform. The system automates the full range of warehouse operations, including material flow management, coordination of personnel and equipment, and product labeling.

Faster Operations, Fewer Errors

The system was initially rolled out at a site comprising 14 warehouses and 12 open storage areas. It has improved the accuracy of warehouse operations, and the company plans to scale the platform to other facilities.

“The smart warehouse reduces the time required to locate, pick, and dispatch equipment, directly affecting the overall speed of production support. Automated inventory tracking minimizes potential errors, while real-time monitoring of goods locations improves control over warehouse processes,” said Artyom Dolgushin, head of Equipment Section No. 1 at the plant.
