AI-Powered 'Digital Clinic' Reduces Workload and Connects Russian Mothers to Newborns

A Moscow-based medical digitization project is streamlining hospital routines and giving new mothers virtual access to their babies.

The 'Digital Clinic' project has reduced the workload of healthcare professionals in Moscow by nearly one-third, largely by automating routine administrative tasks like filling out medical forms. Neural networks now handle this process, accelerating documentation and freeing up time for patient care.

Launched two years ago in Russia’s capital, the project first took root in some of the city’s most prominent hospitals, including the V.V. Veresaev City Clinical Hospital and the N.V. Sklifosovsky Research Institute for Emergency Medicine. Digitization hasn’t just helped doctors—it’s also transformed patient experiences. Users can now monitor their electronic health records and receive updates about the treatment progress of family members.

One standout feature supports maternity wards: when mothers are separated from their newborns, the system offers real-time video feeds, so they can see their babies anytime. As part of the broader 'Digital Clinic' ecosystem, more patient-centered services are being rolled out continuously.
