Russian Agrotech Expands into Egypt’s Agricultural Market

Russia is looking to bring its smart farming technologies to Egypt, aiming to help the country tackle water scarcity while expanding agricultural production.
Russia’s advanced agricultural technologies are poised to claim a significant share of Egypt’s growing agri-tech market. Key offerings include precision farming with sensor-based monitoring and GPS tracking, smart irrigation systems, and digital logistics tools. The potential was highlighted by Ivan Gerashchenko, an expert at the Russian Trade Mission in Egypt, as reported by ComNews.
Egypt is actively developing its agricultural sector, which currently accounts for 15 percent of the country's GDP. At the same time, 85 percent of the nation’s water resources are consumed by agriculture, making water-efficient solutions critically important. Russian companies are prepared to offer drip irrigation systems, soil monitoring technologies, and integrated farm management platforms—technologies that are especially relevant as Egypt moves to expand its farmland.
By 2030, Egypt plans to bring 2 million hectares of new agricultural land into production, creating strong demand for scalable, sustainable solutions.
