At Peterhof — Russia’s most visited museum — digital technologies are being introduced to support research and analyze visitor feedback. The rollout was announced by Yandex’s press service.

Specialists from the IT company, working together with students from HSE University in Moscow, developed two specialized data analytics tools for the museum.

The first helps researchers navigate the museum’s collections. A chatbot answers questions that arise during research, dramatically cutting the time needed to find information — from days to minutes. The assistant analyzes collections of academic papers, archival materials, and analytical publications.

Turning Feedback Into Data

The second tool is designed to work with visitor reviews. Peterhof welcomes up to five million visitors a year, who leave tens of thousands of comments across social media platforms. The system gathers this feedback, analyzes it, groups comments by theme and location, and produces a consolidated report. Users can filter reviews by date, sentiment, source, average rating, and other parameters. This makes it possible to respond more quickly and incorporate feedback into the development of the museum complex.

As Yandex noted, the project was developed by students training as machine learning engineers, developers, and data analysts through a joint program run by the company and HSE University in Moscow. The digital solution created for Peterhof is expected to be adaptable for use by other cultural institutions across Russia.
