Russia’s New LADA SUV Will Feature GigaChat-Powered AI Assistant

Drivers of Russia’s upcoming LADA Azimut crossover won’t need to touch a screen—an onboard neural network will manage everything from navigation to fueling payments.
Russia is integrating advanced AI into mass-market vehicles. The new LADA Azimut crossover will come equipped with a voice-activated virtual assistant based on the GigaChat neural network, allowing drivers to handle navigation, calls, music, and even fuel payments—hands-free.
The assistant is designed to operate without the driver needing to interact with the screen. Instead, voice prompts control key functions, while the AI also explains vehicle systems and can call for help in an emergency.
Announced at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the feature reflects a deeper collaboration between Sberbank’s tech ecosystem and automaker AvtoVAZ. Developers say the system’s functionality will expand over time, adding driving tips and situational awareness tools.
The LADA Azimut, a compact crossover created entirely by Russian engineers, was first introduced at last year’s forum. The vehicle features over a thousand new components and is scheduled to enter full-scale production in 2026. This rollout is part of Russia’s broader push to embed homegrown AI into consumer tech—from smart speakers to autonomous vehicles.
