Transport EDO to Streamline Document Workflows for Businesses
Tochka Bank has launched the Transportnyy EDO (Transport E-Document System) service to help small and medium-sized businesses prepare for the transition to electronic transport documents.

The bank has introduced an integrated tool for working with electronic transport documents in a single interface, without requiring companies to build complex IT systems. Key features of Transportnyy EDO include unified workflows, roaming support with other operators of electronic transport document systems, and the automatic completion of up to 80% of fields in the electronic consignment note. As a result, document processing time can be reduced by half.
Service Significance
The launch reflects a broader shift in Russia’s digital logistics infrastructure. For businesses, it simplifies compliance with new requirements, reduces transaction costs and speeds up freight operations, improving overall supply chain predictability. From an IT perspective, the project highlights how banks are expanding beyond finance to act as digital operators of business processes, while for the government it increases transparency in freight transport, helping collect high-quality operational data and supporting efforts to reduce fraud.
For the government, the service increases transparency in transport operations, enables the collection of high-quality data for managing the transport system, and helps prevent fraudulent practices.

Not a Final Stage
The rollout of Transportnyy EDO marks the beginning of a more active phase in the adoption of electronic transport documents across business processes. Demand for such solutions is expected to surge in 2026. The key advantage of Tochka’s offering lies in its integration into a familiar online banking environment for SMEs. Businesses do not need to adopt a separate complex system, as document workflows can be handled directly within the bank’s digital platform. This is especially valuable for companies without dedicated IT teams or resources for costly integration.
In the future, the service is likely to evolve toward deeper integration with widely used accounting systems, expanded roaming between EDO operators and mobile scenarios for drivers and logistics staff. Additional features may include transport analytics, document status tracking and tighter integration with financial services such as factoring, working capital lending and business scoring based on logistics data.

Historical Context
The starting point dates back to September 2022, when the government launched the GIS EPD (State Information System for Electronic Transport Documents) on a voluntary basis for road transport. In parallel, commercial solutions began to emerge around the platform, forming a hybrid model that combines a state backbone with private operators.
A key milestone came in June 2025 with the adoption of Federal Law No. 140-FZ, which made electronic transport documents mandatory starting September 1, 2026. Following that, the issue became a priority across the industry, prompting a sharp increase in product development by commercial vendors preparing for the transition.

EDO as the New Foundation of Logistics
The rollout of Transportnyy EDO highlights several structural trends. The phase of voluntary adoption is ending, giving way to large-scale implementation. At the same time, banks are moving into the logistics technology stack, evolving into providers of integrated digital services. The EDO operator market is also maturing, with competition shifting toward usability, speed and integration. And finally, electronic document workflows are becoming a foundation for new services, from transport analytics to automated settlements and insurance solutions.
In the near term, the EDO market is set to become more competitive, with particularly strong demand for solutions that offer simple integration and intuitive interfaces, especially among SMEs. Over the longer term, electronic transport document workflows will become core infrastructure for freight operations. Solutions such as Transportnyy EDO are likely to play a key role in shifting the industry from digitization for its own sake to the practical use of data to improve efficiency across the transport system.
