In Russia, a Digital Portal Is Designed to Help People Find Land to Build a Dream Home
The portal known as the Natsionalnaya Sistema Prostranstvennykh Dannykh (National Spatial Data System, NSPD) is aimed at people searching for land to build housing or develop tourism projects.
Land and Construction
NSPD is a digital service for working with spatial data. It aggregates information on land plots and real estate properties. Citizens, developers, and professionals who work with land can use this data to solve both everyday and professional tasks.
Through the portal, users can obtain information on vacant plots owned by the state or municipalities, track changes to real estate assets, or generate land-use layouts for individual housing construction. The service can also be used to search for areas suitable for tourism projects.
A Digital Cadastre
According to Sergei Vasyukov, deputy head of the Chuvashia office of Rosreestr, the portal is actively used by local residents and is especially popular among cadastral engineers.
The platform also makes it possible to check whether a plot falls within zones with special usage conditions, such as sanitary protection areas or water protection zones. Users can immediately see all applicable restrictions.
Construction and Tourism
For citizens planning construction projects, NSPD includes a dedicated service called Zemlya pod Stroitelstvo (Land for Construction). It already contains information on 385 vacant land plots available for development. This simplifies the search for suitable sites and makes the selection process more straightforward and transparent.
Via Gosuslugi
Full access to the portal’s functionality is available after logging in through Gosuslugi (the state digital services portal). This ensures data protection and allows NSPD to be integrated into Russia’s broader ecosystem of government digital services.
