Russian Office Suite to Be Introduced in Leningrad Region Schools
Leningrad Region has received 96,980 licenses for the Russian-made R7-Office suite and will switch schools to domestic software.
The regional authorities have already tested the software themselves and found it convenient and secure. The suite includes a word processor, spreadsheets, email, cloud storage, a calendar, a task planner and video conferencing. Students will use the same software for homework and classroom assignments, eliminating problems with file transfers and incompatibility. Most importantly, classes will not be disrupted even if foreign services stop working.
“This is a major step toward digital sovereignty. We will build a technologically independent environment without foreign software, so that teachers and students can confidently master Russian digital tools that will be in demand both in education and in their future careers. This is an investment in the region’s future and the result of our joint work under the national Data Economy project,” said Alexander Drozdenko, governor of Leningrad Region.
