TIU Students Win 1 Million Rubles for Volleyball Simulator
A team of students from Tyumen Industrial University has received a 1 million ruble grant to develop VolleyHub, a multiplayer volleyball simulator.
The project won at TIU's Technohub 2.0 accelerator, beating out 13 other teams, and also triumphed in the federal Student Startup competition. Unlike many games, victory here depends not on donations but on personal skill and tactics.
"I played volleyball professionally for four years and competed for the university team. When I became interested in entrepreneurship, the idea of creating a sports simulator came immediately. I've actually been in game development for eight years now — I was making games back in school. Today my team has 16 people from different cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Perm, Omsk, Novosibirsk, and Armenia. I trained each specialist individually for the project's needs, and now we're already earning revenue and growing it together," said Nikita Petrov, founder of Singular Games and a fourth-year student.
VolleyHub is now moving into open beta testing and preparing a model for collaboration with universities. The team has already gathered 10,000 wishlists, with 10% of players from Vietnam, Poland, and Spain. On September 15, the project will be presented at the federal stage of the "Ya v Dele" competition in Moscow.
